Surprise party

Last week Bill was away on business. While he was away, his wife, Jane, organised a surprise party for him. That was his birthday. On that day he turned thirty. She invited all Bill’s family and friends. They arrived at six o’clock and they waited for Bill. When Bill arrived home, he walked upstairs to the flat. Then he stopped because there were voices in the flat. But who was it? He listened. It wasn’t Jane because she was on holiday in Scotland. Were there burglars in the flat? Bill rushed downstairs and he phoned the police. Five minutes later two police officers arrived in a police car. They walked upstairs. Bill opened the door and they rushed into the flat. Then all his family and friends shouted: Happy Birthday! ‘It was very embarrassing, but the police officers laughed about it,’ said Bill . ‘I organised the party while Bill was away. I wasn’t really on holiday. It was certainly a big surprise when he arrived with two police officers,’ said Jane.
